FAQ's
  • Who gets to choose the restoration company?
You do! If you are submitting an insurance claim, you are the customer of the insurance company. Some insurance companies may push you towards their contractor, but you ultimately have the choice. Why not choose someone you can trust? Soil-Away! Many insurance companies will direct you towards large franchises with national contracts. These large franchises often experience high employee turn-over and have insufficient training. Eliminate that head-ache. Call Soil-Away.

  • How can I get my property put back together after a mold loss?
We have a rebuild division that will restore your property to pre-loss condition. Unlike most contractors, Soil-Away provides complete "start to finish" solutions when it comes to mold losses. This makes the entire process easier for you. You are dealing with one vendor and are not left with the responsibility of coordinating multiple contractors.
  • Should I try to clean mold myself?
It is not recommended. Proper mold removal requires specialized equipment, training, and cleaning methods. Soil-Away uses the latest technologies and methods to prevent cross-contamination and ensure healthy and safe air quality for everyone in your home or facility. We abide by the industry leading standard of care set forth by the IICRC.
  • Does bleach kill mold?
The early days of mold mitigation suggested the use of Bleach. It is affective at killing mold on some surfaces. However, both the EPA and OSHA currently DO NOT recommend the use of bleach. Our technicians have been trained and certified by these organizations as well.

Process Overview:

Pre-evaluation: Consists of visual inspection and air/surface testing to determine contamination levels.

Source Removal: Requires containment of and removal of the microbial contamination by various means. This could include installing containment barriers, material removal, hand wiping, sanding, or media blasting (soda or dry ice). This will assure adequate removal of the contaminant without spreading it to unaffected areas.Post Removal Verification

Air Scrubbing: Uses specialized professional HEPA filtering and ventilation equipment to remove contaminants from the air and assure they do not spread to unaffected areas during the source removal process.

Post Removal Verification: Perform air/surface tests to assure the removal process was complete and meets acceptable pre-determined standards.

Encapsulation: This optional step is used to help inhibit any recurrence of the contamination by shielding the food source from any microbial contact thus preventing contaminant growth.Encapsulation

Strict adherence to these standardized procedures assures your premises will be returned to a clean, safe and healthy state as soon as possible.
