Cleaning up after Water Damage – Windham, NH 03087

Written by jsolloway on . Posted in , , .

Here in Windham, New Hampshire (NH) residents are accustomed to unpredictable weather patterns and storms that contain heavy precipitation and high winds. The aftermath often results in cleaning up after water damage. So what do you do when the weather forecast predicts a coastal rainstorm that has NH in the projected path? According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), there was over $1.8 million dollars in property damage in 2015 due to flash flooding, and over $15 million dollars in property damage from coastal storms in the same year. Although weather patterns in the Granite State can be a guessing game, it is no surprise that some storms can produce flash flooding and costly property damage. Is your home or business prepared for when the next storm strikes?

What Types of Weather Causes Water Damage?

There are various types of weather-related events that can lead to flooding and water damage such as:

  • Heavy rain
  • Coastal storms
  • Hurricanes and tropical storms
  • Snow melt
  • Wind-driven rain
  • Nor’easters

In NH, the most common weather events that can lead to flooding and water damage are heavy rain and snow melt; however, the occasional tropical and coastal storm should not be ruled out. Granite State residents can experience flooding and water damage at their home or business due to excess water built-up around the structure’s foundation, as well as water seeping into the structure through cracks or holes in the roof, windows or doors.

Before a storm strikes, ensure your home or business is storm-ready by checking the roof, windows, doors and foundation for cracks and/or holes that water can leak into. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) also recommends that residents keep their flood insurance policy up-to-date and learn if their home or business is located in a flood zone.

Cleaning Up After Water Damage

When Soil-Away water removal experts arrived at the Windham family home one morning, crew members immediately began assessing the kitchen water damage that occurred after a recent heavy rainstorm. Due to broken sealant around the kitchen sliding door, water from the heavy rain leaked into the kitchen, causing flooding and water damage to several personal items. Soil-Away crew members set-up moisture meters and thermal imaging cameras to locate any moisture pockets throughout the kitchen, and dehumidifiers were setup to remove the excessive moisture. Soil-Away professionals worked with the family’s insurance company throughout the entire process and restored the personal items that were damaged in the flood. The Windham family was ecstatic that their kitchen was water damage free in a timely manner. Soil-Away’s crew made cleaning up after water damage simple and painless.

All I have to say is WOW and FANTASTIC. I just got done building out my new professional office with Soil-Away’s construction division and they went ABOVE and BEYOND. Scott and Mike, the carpenters are skilled artisans. The project got done on time and the project came in on budget! The finished results have been blowing people away. Much better than I could have anticipated. Anyone is welcome to come to our office, Bright Light Chiropractic in Hooksett to check out the fine work they did. Simply can’t sing enough praises for them. Sorry that the picture doesn’t do the job justice. Thank you Jack and your team. -Dr. Jay

Since day one, I’ve known the owner, Jack, to be a hard-working and selfless leader. Through the efforts of him and his team, he was able to restore my flooded restaurant to tip-top shape. I was amazed with Jack’s orderliness throughout the entire process. Jack has proven to me that he is trustworthy, as both a friend and an individual in the work environment.

Highly recommend Soil-Away. A pipe in our upstairs bathroom gave and sent water down through a wall for at least a day before we noticed water dripping through our kitchen ceiling. Our insurance put us in touch with Soil-Away and they were at our house the next morning to assess the damage and dry things out. Joe, Ray and Tom were phenomenal to work with. They explained every part of the process to us and were very professional and friendly. If you have to deal with similar issues call Soil-Away, you won’t regret it.
